Grade 5: Tell me a Picture
Hello art world! We are exploring the possibilities of narratives through art. Sequential Art? Illustration? Poetry? Short stories? Anything is possible when you want to tell a story in a visual form.

Grade 6 Mixed Media
Hello world! We are grade 6 art students and we are exploring the art of Jean Michel Basquiat. One of the most important aspects of this unit is recognizing that creating art provides a sense of accomplishment, not only in the process but as a way to understand the world. We can recognize themes and issues and recognize that there are many ways to interpret and enjoy art.

Grade 4 Value: The infinite between BLACK and WHITE.
Hello world! We are grade 4 art students working on observational drawing. Realism is challenging but we have a few tricks up our sleeves! Through drawing geometrical forms (deconstruction) and then joining the forms with contour lines, we can execute realistic drawings. Shading has been challenging, but we have learned to hold our soft lead pencils gently while we practice wrist movement that helps us control the pressure we put on our drawing paper. Who would have though that holding a pencil required the same mindfulness as holding the bow of a violin? Direction, gentleness and control. That is the key to success!

Grade 3 Profile Stitching
Hello art world! We are third graders and our art skills are developing steadily. We started this trimester using strategies , based on what we know, to interpret art and try to understand the role of the arts in our world. We are also becoming more critical in our thinking, more independent and exploring the relationship between our work and the work of others.
When our stitching work is done, we will experiment with natural dyes and nature prints. We wonder if there is a connection between the diversity in nature and the diversity in our classrooms?
