As the 2nd Grade was learning to identify routines in their everyday lives, we decided to apply this in Drama through a game called "Make the Sound For Me!" The class split up into pairs and chose a time of day to work with: Morning, During School, After School or At Home.
From these choices, each pair had to come up with a routine that they carry out regularly during that time of day. The partners had to then write out the steps of the actions they would be re-creating. One partner would perform the actions of that routine (for example: brushing your teeth, taking a shower, getting ready for bed, etc.) and the other partner would perform all of the sounds that accompany that routine!
This project gave us the opportunity to explore the concepts of Reflection by taking the time to think about how we carry out these routines day after day, Connection by partners learning how to work well together and Responsibility by rehearsing for performance effectively as well as making sure the sounds happened at the same time as the actions performed.
