Second Grade: Visual Arts
Food Portraits Archimboldo Style

During the past couple of weeks second graders have been learning about symmetry, facial features and how to recreate a portrait through the various shapes of fruit, vegetables and flowers. We analyzed the work of Italian painter Giuseppe Archimboldo and learned about the proportion of the face. Our collages are turning out really great! It makes a huge difference when we take the time to cut and paste with patience and care. Craftsmanship is important in making art.

Take a look at our creative process!
